Snajka: Diary of Expectations

"Snajka: Diary of Expectations" is a participatory-observational documentary about the Croatian-Roma couple Tea and Mirsad, their daughter Frida, and their attempt to build a life together amid family pressure and necessary compromises. Economically and culturally incompatible, they face the challenge of balancing their families' legacies between Croatia and Kosovo. Together, they seek solutions to their families’ unrealistic expectations, leading to a complex game of adaptation that burdens their intimacy. Tea Vidović Dalipi’s deeply personal film exposes family rituals, traditional stereotypes, and cultural racism, as two people in love struggle to fulfill their parents' expectations while remaining true to themselves and their values. Tea and Mirsad try to be obedient children while also being free-spirited parents to Frida, a task that feels impossible despite their love.
