Millie Cooper

Growing up in Kent, the Romany woman and filmmaker Millie Cooper studied at Goldsmiths University in London. She created “Conversations with Romany Women”, which shows the lives of British Romany. Cooper worked in the VFX industry as a coordinator. During this time, she wrote and directed “Ice Cream”, inspired by conversations with Romany, particularly producer Liza Mortimer. They both wanted to show a childhood that resembled their own –magical, but characterised by life as a Romany in the UK. Millie is now a mother. She dreams of taking her daughter on set and building a new generation of Romanichal behind the camera.
