Jan Hřebejk
Jan Hřebejk (b. 1967, Prague) is a leading Czech film director of the past two decades. He studied dramaturgy and screenwriting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Hřebejk is among the few Czech or Slovak directors who systematically depict Czechoslovakia's modern history in his films, reviving the popular retro-comedy genre. His notable works include “Cosy Dens”, “Divided We Fall” (6 Czech Lions, Oscar nomination), “Beauty in Trouble”, “I’m All Good”, “Shameless”, “Kawasaki's Rose”, “Innocence”, and “Teacher”. His recent Slovak comedy series “Iveta” became the season's most-watched show.
