Charles Newland
Charles Newland is an award-winning film director of Romani-Gypsy heritage from Nottingham, UK. He founded Notown Films and is an original member of the IRFC (International Roma Film Commission). Early in his career, he directed music videos featured on British TV and won the Shane Meadows Short Film Award for "The Decision." In 2019, the BBC commissioned his film "The Two-Wheeled Terrors." In 2021, he won Best Short Film at AKE DIKHEA? for "ERODE," which was also screened at Aesthetica and Alchemy in 2022. His work has been featuredby Tate, BBC, VICE, BFI, and The Guardian, and has won awards at international festivals.
