Background information

AKE DIKHEA? translates as "Do you see?". It is a self-organised international Roma film festival taking place in Berlin in October 2023. The festival presents societies around the world from the perspective of Sinti* and Roma*: Through which films do we feel represented, which issues are important to us, how do we see ourselves and how do we want to be seen? We don't want to wait for someone to give us a voice. We want to help shape the social space ourselves and decide on the topics and the form of the festival events.

The festival is organised by the Berlin Roma* self-organisation RomaTrial and it takes place in the traditional cinema BABYLON as well as in the Grüner Salon of the Volksbühne in Berlin-Mitte.
