Concept

AKE DIKHEA? is a festival of films by and with Romani people, which takes place every year in Berlin since 2017. 

At AKE DIKHEA?, we are dedicated to bringing Romani cinema to the forefront and spotlighting systematic inequalities within the European film industry. Our festival serves as a  platform for showcasing the diverse narratives of the Romani diaspora from around the globe, igniting critical discussions on representation, identity, and social justice.

Through a carefully curated selection of films, we strive to amplify marginalized voices, dismantle stereotypes, and celebrate the rich and multifaceted nature of Romani ethnicity and culture. More than just a film festival, we aim to cultivate meaningful dialogues and advocate for greater inclusivity and representation in the European film industry. In addition to film screenings, AKE DIKHEA? will feature panel discussions, masterclasses and  performances. 

As a self organised festival we are committed to providing a space where filmmakers, artists, activists, and audiences can converge to explore, critique, and celebrate  storytelling. We serve as a vital platform for spotlighting intersectional  narratives while fostering essential discussions on representation, identity, and social justice.



Film Selection

AKE DIKHEA? stands for a unique, participatory selection process: Thanks to our worldwide network of (Romani) filmmakers, we are able to discover topics, people and perspectives that would otherwise remain hidden or only have a local or national impact. 



Organisation

AKE DIKHEA? is organised by RomaTrial e.V. – Transcultural Self-Organization of Roma and non-Roma.
